If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all . . . at least that's how the line goes. Only people who know me will know that this is true.
While taking my leg of the trip driving and once again while Rick and Jared were examining the insides of their eyelids and snoring, an accident occured right in front of me in the left hand lane as we drove through the Navajo nation. A 3/4 ton farm truck rear ended a 1-ton farm truck in an impressive and bumper removing crash.
Fortunately, they drifted to THEIR right and thus into the sagebrush and mesquite covered area by the side of their lane. We slowed and continued toward our destination.
Jared can now claim legitimatly to be omnipresent in 4 states simultaneously. He got his picture taken on the marker for 4 corners. All three of us had our moment of eternal glory then hit up the multitude of Navajo vendor booths to find something suitable for our travels. We bought a hand made Navajo Christmas ornament for our tree (we only buy one new ornament per year - they are all labeled for the 24 years of our married life thus far!). It's an awesome ceramic ornament with the mesas and buttes of this lovely land carved into the materials and skillfully painted to be a lovely reminder of our trip into the desert southwest.
More to come later on. It's about time to hit the road.
